Our organic ginger cut & sift is a natural and aromatic herbal ingredient that can be used to make botanical infusions. The ginger used in this product is Zingiber officinale, a species of flowering plant in the Zingiberaceae family.
Ginger is available in both fresh and dried forms, but the ginger spice comes from the dried roots of the plant. The rhizome, or knotted, thick, beige underground stem, is essential to the plant as it stores nutrients.
To make this cut & sift ginger, the whole, organic fresh ginger root is sliced longitudinally, dried, and then cut into small granular pieces. The granules are yellow-beige in color and have a fragrant, pungent, citrus, and fiery flavor.
